Katarina Johnson-Thompson's bid for Olympic glory sadly ended in disappointment - but the 28-year-old is only the latest Liverpool athlete to compete at the Olympics.
There have been more than 100 people from our city and Merseyside who have taken part in the Games over the years, with many enjoying great success and picking up medals.
That's only to be expected for a city with such a rich sporting heritage across the board.
