Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Bangkok with salsa, sombreros and tasty sips

Cinco de Mayo, which translates as fifth of May, is a Mexican and parts of the US as a commemoration of a victory in battle and a celebration of the country’s rich cultural heritage — including its world-famous cuisine. Goji Kitchen + Bar, the international culinary marketplace at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, will showcase the flavours of Mexico this May at “Cinco de Mayo”, its vibrant food festival.

For one day only, on May 5, Goji Kitchen + Bar will treat guests to a series of authentic Mexican delicacies, including an assortment of tasty tacos and local drinks, alongside its international buffets. The Taco Bar will feature a choice of hard or soft taco shells with a variety of fillings, a series of salsas, such as mango, grilled pineapple, tomato, pico de gallo, green salsa and Sriracha sauce.

Other optional toppings include homemade guacamole, a choice of cheeses, sour cream, jalapeños, coriander, onion, lettuce, grilled corn, refried beans, olives and lime wedges. These can be accompanied by horchata, a traditional Mexican rice-based drink, and free-flow margaritas. The Cinco de Mayo food festival is priced is at B2,299++ per person. An unforgettable Cinco de Mayo celebration will be held on May 5 from 6pm at Above Eleven where the festivities begin at 6pm and continue throughout the evening with traditional Mexican food, tasty drinks and the hottest Latin House beats around.

Chef Omar will be serving a special menu that highlights the flavours of Mexico, featuring classic dishes such as tacos and carnitas. Guests can also indulge in four delicious cocktails creations featuring tequila and mezcal, carefully crafted by Above Eleven’s expert mixologists. DJ Ron Jameson will be spinning the hottest Latin House to keep you dancing all night long.

Guilty at Anantara Siam Bangkok

A temple to Latin American flavours nestled by a koi pond in a leafy courtyard, Guilty restaurant at Anantara Siam Bangkok invites hedonists and pleasure-seekers to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with reinterpreted Mexican classics.

Taking place on May 5 from 6pm, the event will feature a live mariachi band, colourful costumes, ice-cold beer and special cocktails from the venue’s all-star bar team. Guilty chef de cuisine Carlos Rodriguez poured his creativity into a versatile Cinco de Mayo menu that opens with crispy corn tortillas with prawns or tuna, followed by beetroot aguachile — a zesty vegetarian dish made of multicolour beetroot dressed with chilli and lime sauce. There are tempting options for meat lovers too, from barbacoa Wagyu beef tostada with jalapeno mayonnaise and feta cheese to BBQ pork salad with ranch dressing, pico de gallo salsa and avocado. Sweet-toothed patrons will be delighted to find creamy vanilla rice pudding with mango salsa and sesame caramel chips at the bottom of the menu.

Craft cocktails from guest mixologists Pattanarak Tesnate and Natapol Chunechoi from Seen Restaurant & Bar Bangkok, are designed to complement Guilty’s Latin American theme as well as showcasing some of Seen’s signature creations. Effervescent and refreshing, Leviathan has Lady Trieu gin from Vietnam as its main liquor component, while Seen Rosita and Puebla Libre both pay tribute to mezcal, the iconic Mexican beverage distilled from agave. La Monita Taqueria
