Celeb Red fans react with delight after Liverpool win FIFA Club World Cup Final in Doha

Liverpool legends, WAGS, politicians and countless fans tonight paid tribute to the current Anfield crop after they became world champions for the first time in their history.

Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino was the match winner in Doha tonight, notching in extra-time to seal victory for the Reds against Flamengo in the Fifa Club World Cup Final.

His wife Larissa along posted an Instagram story in celebration, while fellow Brazilian Liverpool WAG Rebeca Tavares posted a clip of her cheering on the players.

Meanwhile Scouser and senior Labour figure John McDonnell joked on Twitter: "So glad reds have won something this month."

It was just reward for Liverpool who had strangely been denied an earlier winner when Sadio Mane was awarded a penalty, minutes earlier, before VAR overturned the decision.

The Premier League leaders, who lost their previous World Cup Final in 2005 against Sao Paulo, were delighted as captain Jordan Henderson lifted the trophy high into the air.

Liverpool heptathlete Katarina Johnson Thompson, who also became a world champion in Doha in 2019 in her sport, tweeted a series of celebratory emojis.

Immediately after the final whistle, ex-Liverpool players were quick to praise the Kop aces on social media for their achievement.

Former striker Michael Owen wrote: "Congratulations to LFC on winning the FIFA Club World Cup!

"Thoroughly deserved for the way they’ve performed over these last twelve months and now need to find a place in their trophy room for a new piece of silverware!"

Djimi Traore, former left-back and a Champions League winner for Liverpool in 2005, added: "Liverpool are on top of the world.

"Congratulations to all Liverpool players and fans enjoy the moment.

"Well deserved for Klopp and his coaching staff.

"2019 was [a] fantastic achievement for LFC. YNWA."

Former Reds captain Phil Thompson said: "Thanks lads helps erase our defeat in [19]81.

"WORLD CHAMPIONS sounds great doesn’t it?

"Proud of you boys, YNWA."

And at Carragher's Bar in New York where large crowds watched the match, a spokesman said: "Bobby!

"Get in.

"LFC. Conquering all of the world."
