Ceiling fan fault sparked Kambah house fire

A faulty ceiling fan has sparked a fire in a Kambah home overnight.

Firefighters were called to the fire in the roof cavity of the Provis Place home just after 11pm Monday.

The Emergency Services Agency said an electrical fault from a ceiling fan caused the fire.

There were no injuries reported. ACT Ambulance Service assessed one occupant for minor smoke inhalation but required no further treatment.

Fire and Rescue reminded all Canberrans to ensure they had working smoke alarms in their home.

The incident was dealt with in under and hour. Provis Place was closed for a short time and has reopened.
