Cedric Soares sends message to Arsenal fans after sealing deadline day transfer

Arsenal have completed the signing of full-back Cedric Soares as Mikel Arteta makes his second signing as Gunners' head coach.

The defender has signed on loan from fellow Premier League side Southampton until the end of the season as Arsenal look to improve their squad ahead of the business end of the season.

Cedric joins Arsenal as the club's second signing of the January transfer window, joining Spanish defender Pablo Mari at the Emirates Stadium after he arrived on loan from Flamengo earlier in the week.

Cedric is out of contract at St Mary's Stadium at the end of the season, meaning that he will be available to sign for who he chooses on a free transfer following the expiration of his loan deal at the Emirates Stadium.

Art de Roche on the state of play

Speaking in his first interview as an Arsenal player, he spoke of his excitement of joining the club.

"It feels amazing. It's a dream come true being here, and being able to play for Arsenal is unreal," he told the club's official website.

The player has now taken to social media to send a message directly to his new fans.

"I am very happy to have signed for @Arsenal, one of the biggest clubs in the world. It is a privilege to join a team with such a rich history, class and loyal supporters. It's great that I have come to north London to be part of this talented squad," he wrote.

"I will work my hardest and give my all to help @Arsenal reach its goals and make all gunners proud!"

The full-back has been with Southampton for four-and-a-half years, and has made a total of 120 Premier League appearances during his time on the south coast.

The 28-year-old was also a major part of the Portugal squad who won the European Championships in 2016, in which he played the full 120 minutes of the final.
