Cedric sends message to Arsenal fans following Mikel Arteta's coronavirus diagnosis

Arsenal defender Cedric Soares has sent a message after all Premier League games were suspended following Mikel Arteta's coronavirus diagnosis.

The Gunners manager was the first football figure in the Premier league to be diagnosed with COVID-19. He was tested after feeling ill, with the result delivered on Thursday night.

Just over 12 hours later and the Premier League, EFL and FA announced the suspension of professional football across England until April 3.

Arteta has already sent his own message, stating that he is already feeling better.

And now right-back Cedric - who is yet to play a game for the Gunners since his arrival in the January transfer window - has added his own thoughts on the topic.

He stated that he is: "Wishing everyone who has been affected by this virus a quick recovery, including our own coach Mikel Arteta.

"As footballers, we all love getting on the pitch and doing our best to make fans happy.

"But with the events going on in the world, we must follow all the recommendations of health authorities for both our own and the greater good.

"We look forward to playing once again, but for now the priority is for everyone to stay safe and healthy."

Cedric arrived at the Emirates Stadium on a loan deal until the end of the current season from Southampton, but will be out of contract at St. Mary's from the summer onwards.
