Cedric Itten injury blow for Rangers as Steven Gerrard provides update on striker

Rangers striker Cedric Itten is set to spend two weeks out with a calf complaint.

The summer arrival from St Gallen was a notable absentee from Steven Gerrard 's squad to face Hamilton Accies on Saturday evening.

He's suffered an injury setback just a week after making his first for the club in a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.

And now Ibrox boss Gerrard has revealed Itten won't be going on international duty with Switzerland.

He said: "Itten has got an injury he picked up yesterday in training.

"It's a calf problem so we will assess that but it looks like he will miss a couple of weeks and won't be going on international duty."

Itten's place in the Rangers side was taken by Ianis Hagi for the trip to the  Fountain of Youth Stadium Stadium.

Gerrard also named Alfredo Morelos on the bench having binned the exit-linked striker from his squad last week.

The Ibrox side are looking to retain their place at the Premiership summit against Brian Rice's team.
