Cedric Itten given instant Rangers redemption chance as Swiss striker searches for goals

Cedric Itten has been handed another chance to shine for the Rangers second string after he was hooked at half-time in the weekend Old Firm reserve game.

The £2.5 million Swiss misfit is starting against Queen’s Park in the Glasgow Cup clash at the Rangers Training Centre.

And January recruit Mateusz Zukowski has also been named in the starting XI against the Spiders.

The Polish full back arrived in January while Itten returned to Ibrox in the same month following a loan spell at German side Greuther Furth.

Itten scored in the 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Stirling Albion but has struggled to impress in his opportunities under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The 25-year-old will be hoping to make up for his nightmare against the Hoops and stake a claim for promotion back to the top team.
