Cecilia Braekhus targeting winner of Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano if she beats Jessica McCaskill bout

Cecilia Braekhus is hoping to face the winner of Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano if she beats Jessica McCaskill.

The first ever undisputed female boxer in any weight class was due to face McCaskill on April 17, but that bout like the majority of sport across the world has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Taylor's fight with Serrano, which was due to be on the undercard of Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin on May 2, has also been postponed.

Speaking on an Instagram live chat with Eddie Hearn, Braekhus said: "I’m in a foursome that is quite extraordinary. This mini-tournament with me, McCaskill, Katie Taylor, and Amanda Serrano ... it would take a lot to drag me away from this. It’s quite an astonishing situation right now in women’s boxing.”

Braekhus had been linked with fighting Claressa Shields, but she believes that bout will have to wait.

On Shields, Braekhus added: “She brings excitement and the fans in, and they get very caught up in the whole thing. She is a good thing for boxing. She’s still young and she’s still learning how things work. I’ve been doing this for a while now. I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs."
