Ceballos starts, Torreira benched, Ozil & Kolasinac return - Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Angers

Unai Emery could rotate his squad for Arsenal's penultimate pre-season friendly against Angers on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners head coach named a strong team for the Emirates Cup defeat at the hands of Lyon on Sunday afternoon with the likes of Sokratis, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Granit Xhaka and Alexandre Lacazette all starting.

However, the latter caused a scare when he limped off early on against his former club.

It appears Lacazette wasn't seriously injured but probably won't be risked with Aubameyang also dropping out to make room for Gabriel Martinelli to start on the flanks.

Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasniac were left out of the squad completely as a result of the attempted car-jacking from last week.

"As players they are very important in the team but also each moment and some circumstance give us that decision between the player and us, is not the good moment to play because their mind is not now 100% here and it’s very personal circumstance and the most important [thing] now is they can feel good, can feel safe, they can feel with their family being calm," Emery said.

"They came this morning but then we decided that it’s best continuing resting with their family and waiting for hopefully a few days to come and start normally with the team."

When asked if they could feature against Angers, Emery said.

"I think we are going to see each day and tomorrow we are going to check again how they are," he added. "But today in the morning they came here, they weren’t ready to play that match."

Emery looks set to make a late call on the duo, but the inclusion of Ozil could see him link up with new loan signing Dani Ceballos who is pushing for a start following an impressive cameo showing off the bench against Lyon.

The Spaniard could have a different midfield partner in the form of Matteo Guendouzi who looked sharp for 45 minutes on his first pre-season outing.

Lucas Torreira should hand the Gunners a boost by returning to training this week after being given an extended break due to Uruguay's exploits at this summer's Copa America tournament.

Although it's possible that Torreira starts the game on the bench.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles looked to be struggling with an injury before coming off against Lyon so his place at right-back could go to Carl Jenkinson while Calum Chambers and Sokratis could be handed another chance to improve on their defensive partnership.

Nelson did enough against Lyon to earn a start against Angers, although Bukayo Saka will be pushing for an inclusion.

Predicted Arsenal XI: Martinez: Jenkinson, Chambers, Sokratis, Kolasinac: Guendouzi, Ceballos; Nelson, Ozil, Gabriel Martinelli; Nketiah
