CD Projekt will pay investors $1.85 million in class-action settlement over Cyberpunk 2077’s launch

CD Projekt Red has reportedly settled a class-action lawsuit with investors over Cyberpunk 2077’s  nightmarish launch.

Not long after Cyberpunk 2077 came out, investors  filed class-action lawsuits against CD Project Red, claiming the developer misled them regarding the game’s technical performance on PS4 and Xbox One. A report by The Verge  now claims that CD Projekt Red is willing to pay $1,850,000 to settle the lawsuit.

The  settlement document  from CD Projekt Red states if members and plaintiffs relinquish claims made in the lawsuit, the company will pay out the discussed amount. However, all of this still likely needs to be approved by a court before the settlement is final.

Ironically, this is happening not long after Cyberpunk 2077’s  one-year anniversary.

A year on from launch, and Cyberpunk 2077  is still a buggy mess in many regards. Last month, CD Projekt Red  quietly delayed all updates to the game while simultaneously  delaying the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports until sometime in 2022.

However, that didn’t stop Cyberpunk 2077  from being the  highest-selling game during Steam’s Black Friday sales. CD Projekt Red president and CEO Adam Kiciński even said  he believes the game will be a fan-favorite eventually. Whether that actually happens remains to be seen, but CD Projekt Red isn’t giving up. Recently reports of a  significant expansion for Cyberpunk 2077  began to make the rounds. However, the studio has yet to confirm if it’s happening.
