CD Projekt Red is grateful to its fans who have kept the details of "Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2" to themselves, which were recently shared with fans via an advanced screening at Anime Expo 2026.
Over 6,000 fans at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles got to see the first episode of "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2" before anyone else. In a rare display of restraint, almost no footage or plot details from the episode made it online afterwards, and CD Projekt Red took notice.
CD Projekt Red Thanks Fans For Not Spoiling 'Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2'
CD Projekt Red global PR director Radek Grabowski posted a direct thank-you to the Anime Expo audience on X.
"We really appreciate everyone's understanding and for helping us keep the 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2' episode one screening at Anime Expo spoiler-free by not recording any footage," Grabowski wrote. "Let's all experience it and the rest of the season together when the show launches this fall!"
CD Projekt Red's Japanese associate country director, Satoru Homma, echoed the sentiment separately.
"So far, the first episode streamed at Anime Expo hasn't leaked," Homma wrote. "Thank you so much for keeping your promise properly."
Both posts went out within hours of the screening wrapping up, and the lack of leaked footage circulating online made them feel genuinely earned.
The original "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" launched on Netflix in September 2022 and became a cultural phenomenon almost immediately. It drove a massive resurgence in player numbers for "Cyberpunk 2077" at the time and remains one of the most acclaimed video game adaptations in recent memory.
Expectations for the sequel have been correspondingly high since it was first confirmed.

'Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2' Advanced Screening on Anime Expo 2026
The Anime Expo screening marked the first time any public audience had seen any finished footage from "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2." Reactions that surfaced online from attendees who respected the no-spoiler ask were positive without getting into plot specifics.
GamesRadar reported that early first reactions described the episode as "truly special," with several attendees expressing strong enthusiasm without giving any narrative details away.
The advance premiere was a deliberate marketing move by Netflix and CD Projekt Red, designed to generate excitement and word of mouth while keeping the content itself tightly controlled ahead of the full launch.
Given the spoiler economy of modern fandom, convincing 6,000 people to hold their phones for an entire hour-long episode was a genuinely impressive logistical success.
When Is 'Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2' Releasing?
"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2" is confirmed for a Fall 2026 release on Netflix, as listed on the show's official website, but does not give a specific premiere date. CD Projekt Red's own social posts and Netflix's messaging have consistently used "this fall" as the window without narrowing it further.
The second season will not continue the story of David Martinez or Lucy from the first season, instead following a new group of characters including Talia Yang, an Assassin archetype whose character visual was first revealed at the Anime Expo panel.
The anthology format gives "Edgerunners 2" room to tell a fresh story within Night City without being constrained by the first season's ending, which was famously definitive and emotionally final for its main cast.
