CCTV tower producer Servo focuses on sustainability with solar innovation

A Leeds business has launched a new eco-friendly CCTV solution which helps firms reduce their carbon footprint while keeping sites secure.

Servo, which boasts high-profile, national clients, has just completed multiple installations of the eco-friendly, solar powered innovation.

While conventional solutions rely on petrol generators and plastic cabling, this can run on solar power or a battery system housed in its base.

The CCTV towers come with analytical cameras to detect threats or security breaches in real-time, analyse events and provide advanced features such as heat mapping or facial recognition to reduce the need for constant monitoring.

Christian Kisby, operations director at Servo Group, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer these CCTV towers to our clients. They make a huge difference to sustainability, reducing plastic and fuel use, but still carry all the high-spec, analytical capabilities of conventional CCTV systems.

"For many of our clients, especially in the construction sector, and at remote sites, where delivering environmental benefits and fighting climate change has become an important factor to progress, they could be game-changing.”

The solar panels, or 80-hour battery life if preferred, means the towers won’t need to use fuel from a petrol generator, which is especially useful on construction sites.

It comes as cities including Leeds, Bristol, Nottingham and Oxford are currently prioritising environmentally friendly initiatives as part of their pledge to assist with the government’s 2050 target for carbon neutrality.

Servo Group, launched in 2014, provides security services, CCTV, rail labour, facilities management, and construction services to clients around the country and has over 1,000 operatives working on its sites. Between Leeds and London offices it aims to double turnover in the next two years.

These latest CCTV towers are accredited by the Home Office’s Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure and the UK Police Service’s Secured by Design scheme which aims to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings.
