CCTV shows thief who asked to see jeweller's rings and ran off with them

A thief made off with two rings from a city centre jeweller's after he asked the sales assistant to show them to him.

Officers were called to F Hinds Jewellers in St Johns shopping centre at around 9.35am today, after reports a man had entered and made off with the rings.

He made off in the direction of Lime Street. No one was injured during the incident.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the offender and establish the full circumstances and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.

Police issued a CCTV image of a man they believe could have information to assist enquiries.

Detective Inspector Amy Smith said: "An investigation is underway following the theft of two rings this morning and patrols remain in the area while enquiries are carried out.


"We are particularly keen to speak to the man pictured and believe he could have vital information to assist the investigation. I would ask him, or anyone who recognises him, to please contact us. Any information you can provide could prove vital to the investigation."
