CCTV shows shocking moment man shoved onto London Underground tracks at Stockwell station

Shocking CCTV footage has been released of a man shoving somebody onto the tracks of the London Underground at Stockwell station.

Police said the victim, aged in his 50s, had a brief conversation with a man on the platform, who then punched him and pushed him onto the tracks.

He was helped back onto the platform by a passer-by after the incident, which happened on Sunday, June 30.

He did not require medical attention.

Police have released CCTV of the incident (BTP)

British Transport Police previously released an image of the suspect but he remains unidentified. Footage has now been released of the incident in a renewed appeal for information.

Investigating officer DC Zoe Wornham said: “This was an extremely serious incident and it is vitally important we identify the man in this footage. Very fortunately, there were no trains approaching the station at the time the victim was pushed onto the tracks; if there were this incident could have ended in tragedy.

British Transport Police released this image of the suspect in July but he remains unidentified. (British Transport Police)

Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference number 72 of 30/06/19.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
