CCTV footage shows the moment a male cyclist was assaulted by a Scots motorist in an alleged unprovoked road rage incident.
The assault happened on Edinburgh's Rodney Street outside the Celadon 2 U Restaurant at 5.24pm on Sunday 6 June.
Two men get out of a silver Volkswagen Golf, and wait on the pavement behind a phone box.
When the cyclist comes into view, the passenger is alleged to be the one that threw a traffic cone at him and briefly flashed a knife and shouted: "I will kill you."
While the driver is alleged to have been shouting threats while waving a chain or knuckleduster that was in his hand.
The cyclist feared for his life and cycled in the opposite direction, the unidentified men get back in their vehicle and drove off towards Broughton Road.
Restaurant staff came to the cyclists aid providing refreshments while he waited for the police and said: "It is a disgrace what this city has come to."
Wishing to remain anonymous the cyclist in his thirties said: "I am extremely scared to cycle on my own again.
"After being assaulted for no reason it made me feel sick to my stomach to meet these horrible people."
Officers informed the cyclist and staff that they have circulated the vehicle details that is thought to be registered in North Ayrshire.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a disturbance in the street at Rodney Street in Leith shortly before 5.30pm on Sunday, 6 June.
“Officers were in attendance.
“No person were found to have received any injuries and enquiries are ongoing."
