CCTV shows masked man taking hand sanitiser from Cork shop before making big mistake

A masked man was captured on CCTV making a 'clean getaway' with a local shop's hand sanitiser before being caught just days later.

Lee's Centra in Charleville, Co Cork, appealed for information after the cunning theft that happened on Wednesday evening, CorkBeo.ie reports.

CCTV footage showed the man - wearing black trousers, a black hoodie covering over his head, glasses and a face mask - enter the shop before picking up the bottle, turning around and heading straight out the door.

After the appeal was made, the shop ended up finding the suspect who had come in the next day wearing the exact same clothes and a "friendly conversation" was had.

They said: "Thanks to a few eagle eyed observers and the fact our 'friend' decided to wear the same clothes this morning.

"We've had a 'friendly conversation', cheers folks and stay safe."

Gardai have been informed of the incident, Cork Beo reports.

The shop said it is the second time someone has walked out with a bottle of the Covid killing juice in the last two weeks.

Thankfully the first person was tracked and they managed to get the bottle back.
