CCTV shows final moments before Brandon Regan was brutally murdered

Shocking footage shows Brandon Regan being chased by his killer on the night of his brutal murder.

The CCTV was released by Merseyside Police after three men were sentenced over the attack on 17-year-old Brandon last January.

His body was found on January, 29 2018 in the garden of an address in Critchley Road. He had been stabbed multiple times in the early hours of the morning.

During the trial of three men at Liverpool Crown Court, it was heard that Brandon had stolen a bike from cocaine and cannabis dealer Steven Jones before being chased by a gang in a Audi A4.

It is believed that the gang, being driven by 22-year-old Jack Butterworth, chased Brandon from Millwood Court before ramming him off the road close to the junction of Heathgate and Critchley Road around one minute later.

Jones was then found to have got out of the car and stabbed the teen four times while 26-year-old Lewis Gibbons wielded an axe and a meat cleaver.

After being stabbed, Brandon managed climb a garden fence before collapsing behind a home on Critcheley Road, where he was found dead the next morning.

In the CCTV release by detectives investigating the case, Brandon can be seen in the distance of one of the clips riding the bike away from Millwood Court.

He is quickly followed by the gang in the Audi A4.

The car can then be seen driving down a residential street at 21.48pm on January 28, just seconds before Brandon is knocked off the bike and stabbed.

In the last clip, Jack Butterworth can be seen casually pulling the Audi into a petrol station and casually filling the car up after the murder.

Lewis Gibbons, 26, of Holland Road, Halewood was arrested on 22 November 2018 and later charged with murder.

He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 25 years.

Steven Jones, 24, of no fixed abode was arrested on 31 January 2018 and later charged with murder.

He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 21 years.

Jack Butterworth, 22, of Finsbury Park, Widnes was arrested on 7 February 2018 and later charged with murder.

He was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 13 years in prison.

All there were convicted at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, 3 May at Liverpool Crown Court.

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Colin Rennison, who led the investigation said: “Brandon’s death can only be described as tragic lost of life as a consequence of someone recklessly using a knife, after the offenders chose to escalate a minor dispute over the theft of bike.

“Today’s sentencing cannot undo the hurt caused to Brandon’s family but hopefully gives them some sense of justice as they continue to come to terms with their loss.

“Tackling knife crime is not something we and the courts can do alone and need a collective community response to put a stop to it.

"We continue to work closely with partners and other people about devastating consequences, which Brandon’s death sadly shows.

“If you know somebody is carrying a knife when they go out, I would urge you to contact police or Crimestoppers anonymously.

"We will act on all information reported to us to make our streets safer.

“Anyone with information can contact @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111." #StopKnifeCrime

Brandon's family have wished to express their thanks to the investigation team and also to family and friends for their support during this difficult time.
