Detectives investigating the robbery - which happened at around 2.30pm on May 22 - have now released CCTV of a man they want to speak to.

The suspect is described as Asian, in his mid-30s, around 5ft 11 and with a large build.

Police have released this CCTV still (GMP)

He was wearing dark gloves, a dark green hip-length coat, dark tracksuit bottoms with white lines down the legs and dark trainers with a white sole.

Det Con Chris Henderson, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: "This was a terrifying incident for the staff member, who was confronted by a brazen offender and no one should have to experience this kind of ordeal while simply trying to do their job.

"Today we have released good quality image and are hoping that it will jog people’s memories. Were you in the area at the time of the incident and see this man or anything suspicious?

"I would implore anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, to please get in touch with us so we can trace the person responsible and bring them to justice."

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call them on 0161 8566051 quoting log number 1308 of May 22.

Details can also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
