CCTV released of couple in Wallsend Asda after elderly man's card stolen from his home

CCTV footage has been released of a man and woman shopping in Asda after a pensioner's wallet was stolen from his home.

Shortly before 5.15pm on January 22, police received a report of a theft from a home on Sidney Street, North Shields.

It was reported that a 79-year-old man had his wallet stolen from his home at around 5am earlier that same day.

The card inside the wallet was then used in North Shields on Belford Street and then Asda on Station Road in Wallsend.

Officers investigating the theft have now released a CCTV of two people they are trying to trace, a man and a woman.

They were in the area with a young child when the card was used in Asda and may be able to help officers with their inquiries.

The man and woman, or anyone with any information, is asked to contact Northumbria Police quoting reference number 0081 22/01/20.

Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
