CCTV released as cab owner speaks out about attacks on his business

The owner of a taxi firm has revealed how his property has been repeatedly targeted by people wanting to damage his business - including a terrifying incident when two masked men smashed up cars on the driveway of his home.

Police issued an appeal for information after cars belonging to Swansea business Oyster Cabs were doused with petrol, with one eventually being completely destroyed .

And they also linked it to an incident when the firm’s offices in Eversley Road in Sketty was targeted by a helmet-wearing couple on a motorcycle, who threw a brick, repeatedly, at its window.

Farcically, the reinforced window meant despite throwing bricks at the glass five times, they bounced back on each occasion leaving no damage, before the hapless attacker jumped back onto the motorbike with his accomplice having failed in their mission.

But far more sinister was the sight of two hooded men jumping from a car outside owner Dean Roderick's Swansea home, and smashing the lights and windows of two cars parked in the driveway, with what appear to be hammers, while their owner was inside with his wife and children.

Mr Roderick said the first time his business was targeted was on March 20, when an attempt was made to set fire to cars parked at Mill Lane in Blackpill.

He said: “Petrol was poured over about 15 cars that were parked down there, but fortunately staff at the Mumbai restaurant had seen what was going on and stopped them.

“But they came back on Sunday to finish the job, and one of the cars went up in flames and was completely destroyed.

“The next incident was outside my home on May 23. I was at home with my wife and children, and had just gone to bed.

“We heard a noise, and there were two men smashing up the cars on the driveway.”

That incident, together with the most recent, were both captured on CCTV.

Th attempted attack on the offices happened on Tuesday, June 2.

Mr Roderick said he was working with police with the aim to bring the perpetrators to justice.
