CCTV released after robber armed with blade threatened staff at Wallsend service station

A robber who threatened service station workers with a blade in Wallsend made off with cigarettes and cash.

Images of the suspect have now been shared by police, two days after the man went into the shop and demanded cash.

Shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, police received a report of a robbery at Bewicke Service Station on Bewicke Road.

It was reported that a man had gone inside and threatened staff with a bladed weapon, asking for cash to be handed over.

The man then fled the scene on a bicycle with the cash and cigarettes.

Officers have now released photos of the suspect in an attempt to identify him.

The man is described as white, in his 20s and approximately 5ft 7ins. He has a thin build with light coloured eyes.

He was wearing a dark jacket with a Berghaus logo on the left chest area and wore black Nike gloves. He was carrying a black rucksack with a crisscross lace design.

Anyone who knows the man or has information that could help officers is asked to contact police via the Northumbria Police website and quote reference number 848 01/04/20.
