Do you recognise this man?

Police officers have released CCTV of a man they want to speak to after an assault in Newcastle.

At around 7pm on August 30, police received a report that a 30-year-old man had been assaulted on Benwell Lane in the west end of the city.

It was reported that a man had been verbally abused in the street and had to board a bus to get away from the attacker.

The attacker followed him onto the bus and proceeded to punch the victim causing painful cuts and bruises to his face.

An investigation is ongoing into the incident and as part of their inquiries, police have identified a man they would like to speak to.

He was known to have been on the bus at the time that the assault took place and could have information that may assist officers.

The man, or anyone who knows him, is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 1044 300819 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
