CCTV of driver in Vic hit-run released

Police are looking for the driver behind a hit-and-run that left a cyclist dead in Melbourne. (AAP)

CCTV footage shows the driver allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision with a cyclist running down a southeast Melbourne street.

The images released by police show the driver running down the street soon after his car collided with a cyclist at a Hampton Park intersection on Thursday.

Police said the collision happened at about 4:14am.

The 58-year-old cyclist was treated by emergency services but died at the scene.

Police said the driver failed to stop at the scene and left in a red 2010 Holden Cruze sedan which was later found destroyed by fire in Glen Waverley.

The vision shows the suspected driver walking down the street in Glen Waverley.

Police said he was last seen in Marylands Cres and Balmain St.

Detectives are appealing for the driver to come forward as well as any witnesses or motorists with relevant dashcam footage.
