CCTV images released after knifepoint robbery bid in Edinburgh shop

CCTV images have been released after an attempted robbery at a shop in Edinburgh.

A shopkeeper was threatened at knifepoint during the incident at Niddrie Licensed Grocers on Tuesday, 12 November.

Nothing was taken after the shopkeeper refused to hand over any cash at the premises on Niddrie Mills Drive..

Police want to speak to a man seen in a blue jacket in the images, saying he can help with their enquiries.

He is 5ft 8in tall with a medium build and wore a blue Stone Island jacket, grey trousers and black trainers.

Detective constable Sheila Silvagni of Gayfield CID said: "As part of the investigation, we are looking to identify the man in the images.

"If anyone recognises this distinctive clothing as being worn by someone recently, I would urge them to get in touch with us."

Anyonewith information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2428 of Tuesday, 12 November.

Alternatively, information can be passed to the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
