CCTV image released after woman racially abused at Whitley Bay Metro Station

Police have released an image of two people they want to trace after a woman was reported to have been racially abused at a Metro station.

The incident happened at 9.35am on March 23 when a woman and an elderly man asked two passengers at Whitley Bay Metro Station to stop behaving in a disorderly manner.

But instead the passengers verbally abused the woman and allegedly used a racial slur before leaving.

An investigation was launched and, as part of their enquiries, officers have identified a man and woman they would like to speak to in connection with the offence.

The individuals pictured were at the Metro station at the time of the offence and may have information that will assist the investigation.

The man and woman, or anyone who knows them, should contact police online at the Northumbria Police website's ‘Tell us Something’ page quoting log 188 of March 23.
