CCTV image released after burglar stole cards and keys from North Shields home

Do you recognise this man?

A CCTV image has been released as police investigate a burglary in North Shields.

Shortly after 5am on Saturday March 13, officers received a report of a break-in to a home on Saint Georges Crescent.

The occupants had heard a noise downstairs and when they went to check, they found the front door ajar and a number of items stolen including bank cards and car keys.

Later the same day, a man attempted to use one of the stolen cards at Chirton Garage, North Shields, but it had already been reported missing and was declined.

A second male then attempted to use a different card, which was also declined for the same reason, police said.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Now Northumbria Police officers have released an image of a man they want to identify.

"He was in the area when the card was declined and could have information that will assist the investigation.

"Anyone who knows the man in the image, or can help identify him, is asked to report it online at the Northumbria Police website.

"You can also call 101, quoting log 166 130321."
