CCTV image of man released after serious assault in Clydebank

Detectives in Clydebank have released the image of a man they want to speak to in connection with a serious assault in the Dunbartonshire town.

The picture, obtained from a CCTV camera, shows a man described as white, of slim build with a shaved head, carrying an orange carrier bag. He was wearing a leather jacket, orange and yellow work gloves and sunglasses.

Police released the image of the man in February, but re-issued it on Thursday in a renewed bid to identify him, and to appeal to him or anyone who may know who he is to come forward. Officers say he may be able to assist with ongoing enquiries into a serious assault that occurred on Clydebank's Kilbowie Road on Tuesday October 5 2021 at around 4.20pm.

A 46-year-old man suffered a facial injury after he was attacked on the street. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment and was later released. Officers believe his attacker made off in the direction of Cambridge Avenue.

Detective Constable Aislinn MacLeod, of Clydebank CID, said at the time of the assault: “This was a completely random attack, and I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Kilbowie Road on Tuesday afternoon and saw what happened, or the suspect making off, to please get in touch.

“In particular, I would like to speak to the driver of a white Mercedes who is believed to have witnessed the incident, and would urge them to come forward.

“I would also ask any motorists with dash-cams to check their footage in case there is anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 2456 of Tuesday, 5 October, 2021. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
