CCTV image of man police want to speak to after man kicked in head and left unconscious near Piccadilly Gardens

A man was taken to hospital after being kicked in the head and left unconscious in Manchester city centre.

The victim - a man in his 30s - was knocked out and left on the floor near Marks & Spencer, on Mosely Street, close to Piccadilly Gardens.

He suffered serious injuries during the assault, which happened at around 9.45pm on the night of Tuesday January 26.

After treatment in hospital he was discharged.

Police have now released an image of a man they want to speak following the attack.

Detective Constable Mel Brundrit, of Greater Manchester Police's City of Manchester division, said: “This was a nasty assault on a man in the city centre which left him with serious head injuries.

“We've carried out a number of lines of enquiry but now we're asking the public to come forward if they recognise the man pictured.”

Anyone with any information about the incident should call 0161 856 4409, quoting incident number 2662 of 26/01/2021.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
