CCTV footage wanted after car set ablaze in Wishaw street

Police are appealing for CCTV footage after a car was set alight in a Wishaw street.

At 1am on Friday, February 5, the vehicle, a BMW X5, was set on fire in Dimsdale Road.

Sgt Jim Mutter, from Wishaw Police, said: “There are a number of new homes being built in that area and this led to the victim parking their car away from the house.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have been passing the area and may have dash-cam footage or CCTV to come forward.”

Meanwhile, officers are also appealing for information following a car fire in the early hours of the morning in Shotts.

At approximately 3.35am on Friday, February 5, the bumper of a vehicle was set alight in Springhill Road.

Sgt Mutter added: “A member of the public was driving past when they noticed the fire and quickly contacted the emergency services.

“The fire was quickly extinguished so there was not a lot of damage. However, it could have been worse.”

If any member of the public has any information they should contact police on 101.
