CCTV footage has shown the shocking moment a 13-year-old had to fight off a sex attacker in Blackburn.
The man is seen in the video following the young girl and then approaching her in an attempt to make conversation.
She crosses the road but the alleged attacker then sprints after her and grabs her from behind.
The teenager is forced to punch the man and run away – all in broad daylight.
The footage was released as detectives launched a fresh appeal for information.
The man in question is described as Asian, around 20 years old, with a slim build and black hair.
DC Lisa Bennett of Burnley CID told the Daily Star: “This is a shocking incident where a 13-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted by a man who caught up with her as she walked along the pavement and began to talk to her before grabbing her from behind.
“Thankfully she was able to fight the man off and run away.
"Our investigation remains ongoing and we are really keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or who recognises the man pictured in the footage.
"It is vital that we trace this man and if you can help us with our enquiries then please get in touch with us as soon as possible."
