CCTV footage shows Dagenham 'chemical attack' on teenger

Police investigating an assault on a teenager in Dagenham have released footage of the attack in which one of the suspects appears to throw a chemical substance over the victim.

In the CCTV footage three men can be seen setting upon the 16-year-old victim, hurling a nearby rubbish bin at him and punching and kicking him.

At one point one of the men appears to unscrew a bottle and empty the contents onto the victim.

The victim was later treated for chemical burns by the London Ambulance Service.

The attack occurred on Friday 4 September in Dagenham, in east London.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the teenager was walking along Downing Road in Dagenham between just before midnight when a white van stopped on the road and three men jumped out and attacked him.

One of the men then emptied the liquid contents of a bottle over the victim's head causing his eyes and face to burn, police said.

Police described the liquid as a "corrosive substance".

All three men are described as white, of large build and aged between 40 and 50.
