Footage of a cyclist moments before he was was found dead in a Birmingham canal has been released by police as they appeal for information.
Paul Morris was seen riding his bike shortly before his body was discovered in the waterway off Ladywood Middleway at around 6.15pm on Tuesday, December 21.
Images released by West Midlands Police show the 66-year-old man cycling along the canal towpath.
Alongside the video above, police urged anyone with information to come forward to help provide his family the "answers they need".
His death is currently being treated as 'unexplained' following an inconclusive post mortem, officers said.
"We’re appealing for information after the body of a man was sadly found in a canal in Birmingham last month," police stated.
"The body of Paul Morris was discovered at around 6.15pm on Tuesday 21 December, at the junction of Ledsam Street and Ladywood Middleway.
"The 66-year-old was seen riding his bike along the canal towpath shortly before this time."
There is nothing to suggest there is any "foul play" involved in his death, Detective Inspector Ade George pointed out and police are just trying to establish what took place.
He added: “Our thoughts are with Mr Morris’ family at this really sad time.
“There is nothing to suggest there was any foul play involved in his death, however we want to understand exactly what happened and to give his family the answers they need.
“There is very little CCTV along this stretch of the canal so I’m asking for anyone who was around the area between 5pm and 7pm on the evening, to get in touch.”
