CCTV is being probed to track a sports star before he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in his car.
Footage in Dublin will be used to build a picture of the lead-up to the pub car park incident on Friday night.
The celeb, facing a second sexual assault in less than 12 months, could be interviewed by detectives within days. The investigation will also ascertain the movements of the woman in her 20s.
She walked into a West Dublin Garda station on Saturday morning to claim the man coerced her into a sex act in the back seat.
She made a complaint and specialist gardai were drafted in.
CCTV footage from the pub and surrounding areas will now be examined.
The investigation is being conducted from a south city garda station which is closer to the pub in the Drimnagh area. The woman claims she was attacked at around 9pm.
Pubgoers and friends of the sports star and alleged victim will also be quizzed.
It is understood the celeb and his pal began to chat with the woman and her group.
The Garda confirmed an inquiry is under way.
It said: “Gardai are investigating an alleged sexual assault of a woman that occurred on Friday at approximately 9pm.
“No arrests have been made. Owing to the nature of the investigation we will not be commenting further at this time.”
The sports star was arrested earlier this year over the alleged rape of a woman at a Dublin hotel last December.
A file was prepared for the DPP who has yet to decide whether the man should be charged.
It is understood the star claimed he had consensual sex with the woman.
