Police have launched an investigation into reports of a transphobic hate crime.
A man was reported to have been verbally abusive towards a transgender woman on Derby Street, Ilkeston, between 3.30pm and 3.40pm on Wednesday, August 12.
Derbyshire Constabulary say the man in the image may be able to help officers with their inquiries, and "while the picture is not the best quality, we hope someone will recognise him."
He is described as being white with a tanned complexion, of a skinny build with short brown hair and possibly aged in his 20s. He was wearing a grey tracksuit.
PC Fred Bray of the South Division Neighbourhood Safeguarding Team said: “A transphobic hate crime is an offence which is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice, based on a person's transgender identity or perceived transgender identity.
“People should be able to live their lives free of harassment and abuse. Hate crime in any form is completely unacceptable, and should not be tolerated. I would urge anyone with information about this incident to get in touch.”
