CCTV clue after salon broken into and cash taken from till in Newark

CCTV images have been released by police after a salon was broken into in Newark.

Footage shows a man climbing a fence to access the back yard of Purdey Hair Salon, in Portland Street, before unlocking a side gate.

The man left the scene, but police say he then returned with a tool and forced entry to the property through its back door.

Cash was then taken from a till during the burglary, which happened between 6pm on Tuesday, September 29 and 8.30am the following morning.

Police Constable Sarah Murdoch, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry, including checking for forensic and CCTV opportunities.

“We’re also urging anyone who recognises the man in the footage, anyone who saw any suspicious activity during the times stated or anyone who has any other information about this burglary to please get in touch with us.

“If you have any information please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 123 of September 30, 2020, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
