CCTV appeal after woman was robbed at cash point in Low Fell

An investigation is under way after a woman was robbed while getting money from a cash point in Gateshead.

The victim was targeted by a thief as she withdrew the cash from an ATM on Durham Road in Low Fell.

Police say she was not injured during the incident at around 12.25pm on Thursday, February 6, but they are attempting to track down the suspect.

Enquiries have been ongoing to locate the person responsible and now officers have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Now officers have released an image of a man they need to identify and trace so they can speak to him about the robbery.

"He was in the area at the time and may be able to assist the police investigation.

"The man, or anyone who knows his identity, is encouraged to contact police on 101 quoting ref 16254E/20 or report online at the Northumbria Police website.

"You can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
