CCTV appeal after woman grabbed and pushed against a wall in Warrington

Police have issued CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to after a woman was assaulted in Warrington.

On Thursday (October 14) at around 2am, a woman was walking on Barbault Street when she noticed a man following her.

The man then proceeded to grab her and pushed her towards a wall.

The man then made inappropriate comments towards her.

The woman was able to get away and returned home before later reporting the incident to police.

Detectives have launched an appeal for anyone with information to come forward and assist police with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Joe McNally, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “This incident will understandably be of concern to those heading into Warrington to enjoy a night out.

“However I want to reassure the local community that we are doing all we can to trace the person responsible and bring them to justice.

“Patrols are being stepped up in the area and if anyone has any concerns, no matter how small, please speak to an officer.

“We are following several lines of enquiry and as part of this have CCTV still images of a man who we want to speak to.

“If anyone knows who he is please get in touch with us.

“I would also urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to report this to Cheshire Police by calling 101 or reporting it online."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting IML 1107851 or report it via the Cheshire Police website.

Alternatively information can be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 or on their website.
