CCTV appeal after 'violent fight' in Burnley pub after Newcastle United away match

An investigation is under way after a violent fight broke out among fans who had travelled to a Newcastle United away match.

The fight took place during the club’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley that kicked off at 3pm on December 14.

At about 4.25pm that afternoon, a number of Newcastle fans were drinking at the The Turf Hotel pub in Burnley after leaving the Turf Moor ground at half-time.

Police say they then became involved in a large fight with others in the pub.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Dozens of people are believed to have been involved and six men have already been arrested by police.

"But now officers investigating the incident have released images of nine men they need to identify.

"They are believed to be Newcastle fans and anyone who recognises them is being asked to get in touch with police.

"If you know the men, or have information that could assist police, then you are asked to contact officers on 101.

"You can also report information online or email football.intelligence.mailbox@northumbria.pnn.police.uk .

"If you want to report information anonymously you can do so by contacting independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
