CCTV appeal after teenager injured in racist attack during school trip in Edinburgh

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a teenager was attacked during a school trip in Edinburgh.

Racist abuse was directed at a group of teenagers visiting the city in Montgomery Street, Leith, on 25 April.

The incident took place around 11am near the junction with Hillside Street

A 16-year-old boy was hit in the head and suffered facial injuries after the racist language was used.

Police are looking for a man in his late 20s, who was wearing a white fur-lined denim jacket and a black Armani T-shirt which had a white 'EA' logo on the front.

Leith's war on dog fouling continues as its revealed that only seven fines have been issued in five years

Detective Constable Neill Watt of Gayfield CID said: "This was a violent attack on a teenage boy, who came to our city on a school trip and was left with painful facial injuries.

"We're eager to speak to this man in connection with our ongoing inquiries and would urge anyone who may recognise him, or has information relevant to this investigation, to contact us."

Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1271 of 25th April 2019, or report this anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
