CCTV appeal after suspected arson attack in Walker causes £15,000 worth of damage

An investigation is under way after a suspected arson attack caused £15,000 worth of damage.

At around 9.30pm on June 21, police received a report that some industrial bins on Bath Street Industrial Estate in Walker had been set alight.

The fire then spread to a nearby industrial causing significant damage to the electrical shutters valued at £15,000.

The offenders are said to have then made off from the scene before police and firefighters were contacted.

Northumbria Police has now released CCTV images of two men they want to trace.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The incident is being treated as an arson at this time and officers have already carried out a range of enquiries to try and locate those responsible, including reviewing CCTV footage.

"Officers have now issued the following images of two males they believe were in the area at the time of the incident, who might be able to assist with enquiries.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police by emailing 2257@northumbria.pnn.police.uk or using the Tell us Something option on our website quoting log 1147 210621."
