CCTV appeal after man was punched in the face in Bigg Market attack

Northumbria Police have released a CCTV appeal after a man was punched in the face during a night out.

Police received a report that a man had been punched in the face in the Bigg Market near the junction with Grainger Street at around 1.30am on September 15.

It was reported that an unknown man ran after the victim, aged 22, assaulted him and then fled the scene.

Emergency services attended and the victim was treated for cuts and bruises to his face and a cracked tooth that will require further treatment in the future.

Officers have made a number of enquiries and have now released an image of a man they would like to trace.

The man was in the area at the time of the incident and could have information that could assist officers.

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell us something’ page of the Northumbria Police website quoting crime ref 101395K/21.
