CCTV appeal after man threatens Tesco staff with a knife in Newcastle

A man is being hunted by police after threatening Tesco staff with a knife at a store in Newcastle.

Employees at Tesco in Shieldfield were approached by a man at around 6.30pm on August 8.

He was verbally abusive when asked to leave the Stoddart Street store by staff.

It was then when he threatened a staff member with a knife before fleeing the scene.

Inquiries to locate the man are ongoing but today officers have released an image of someone they need to trace.

The man was in the shop at the time of the offence and it is hoped he would be able to assist police.

If anyone knows the man, or can help police with their enquiries, then call 101 quoting log 916 08/07/19.

You can also report online at the Northumbria Police website or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
