CCTV appeal after man stabbed outside Stapleton Road food shop in Easton

A man was stabbed outside a shop along one of Bristol's busiest roads.

The victim, aged in his 40s, suffered stab wounds to his arm and upper body during the attack along Stapleton Road in Easton.

It happened last month but Avon and Somerset Police only shared details today (Thursday, May 13), as they launched a CCTV appeal.

The victim was taken to hospital after the attack, which happened outside the International Foodmarket at about 7pm on Saturday, April 17.

Police want to speak to this man in connection with a stabbing along Stapleton Road in Easton (Avon and Somerset Police)

He has since been discharged and police have been carrying out door-to-door and CCTV enquiries as part of their investigation into the incident of GBH (grievous bodily harm).

The police appeal shared this afternoon stated: "We’re issuing CCTV footage of a man police would like to identify in connection with a GBH that took place in Easton, Bristol last month.

"He is described as a black man, of average build, wearing a blue face mask, dark hoody, red bottoms and white trainers."

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to police, or anyone who recognises the man pictured.

The statement continued: "We appreciate the quality is poor, but we are hoping it may jog someone’s memory or that his clothes may be recognisable."

Police did not state if traffic was passing at the time of the stabbing.

Just a few weeks earlier on March 29, a 27-year-old man was stabbed just off Stapleton Road.

There is no suggestion that they are linked, however, and the description of the suspects do not match.

The shop is just along the road from the Fox Park viaduct, which artists recently transformed with a series of murals, partly to make the underpass feel safer and more inviting.

Anyone with information about the stabbing has been asked to contact 101 providing the reference number 5221082237.

Reports can also be submitted anonymously through Crimestoppers, by calling on 0800 555 111 or via the independent charity's online form.
