CCTV appeal after man punched to the floor in St Patrick's Day street row

A reveller was punched in the face and knocked unconscious following a vicious St Patrick's Day attack in Manchester city centre .

The victim, who is in his 40s, ended up in hospital after being sent flying by the blow and hitting his head on the pavement.

Police say he was assaulted after getting into a row with his attacker, close to Mojo bar on Bridge Street.

The victim needed treatment for a head injury, as well as injuries his nose and face.

Police want to speak to this man as part of the investigation (GMP)

Officers investigating the attack - which happened just after midnight on March 17 - have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the attack.

Police say the offender is described as white and with short brown hair.

He was around 5ft 9 tall with stubble and was wearing a khaki waist-length parker coat which had fur around the hood. He also wore blue jeans.

PC Michelle Cording, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: "This was a nasty attack which left a man in hospital and I want to reassure members of the public that we are committed to trace those responsible.

"Luckily the victim was able to recover at home, but this could have easily been a different story and I want to stress just how severe the consequences could have been.

"We have been trawling through CCTV from the surrounding areas and we are now releasing a picture of someone we are keen to speak to.

"Do you recognise them? I appreciate it has been a few months since the incident, but if so please get in touch with police."
