CCTV appeal after man pulls 15-year-old girl's hair on a Metro train

An investigation is under way after a teenage girl was attacked on a Metro train.

It was reported to police that a man approached the 15 year-old victim, grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the floor.

Other passengers on the train helped the victim and escorted the man off the Metro.

Officers say the victim was left "shaken" by the incident.

The incident occurred on Sunday, May 30, at around 6.45pm on a train train travelling northbound through Palmersville/Northumberland Park.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "We are keen to speak to the man in the image as it is believed he was in the area at the time and may have information which could assist the investigation.

"The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police via the Tell us Something page on our website or contact 101 quoting reference 1159 300521."
