CCTV appeal after man is knocked unconscious in Walker Aldi in violent argument

CCTV has been released after a man was knocked unconscious in a violent argument in a Newcastle supermarket.

The attack took place just after 10pm on Saturday, November 21, when two strangers got into a disagreement at the Aldi on Walker Road.

The two men were waiting in the queue at a till when the argument took place before one of the shoppers punched the other, knocking him unconscious.

Emergency services were called but when police officers arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Inquiries to identify the man are ongoing but now police have released an image of a man they need to identify and locate.

"He was in the Aldi supermarket at the time of the offence and could assist police with their investigation.

"Anyone who recognises the man, or has information that may assist in identifying him, is asked to report online at the Northumbria Police website quoting reference 132188R/20.

"You can also call 101 or email the investigating officer on 2578@northumbria.pnn.police.uk."
