A woman was assaulted by a man after she tried to intervene in an altercation in a city centre bar.
It was reported to police that a group of men and women had got into an altercation inside Bar B in The Gate at about 9.50pm on Thursday, August 22 .
A female member of staff at the bar intervened and was then assaulted by a man involved in the altercation.
Police say those involved left before they arrived and enquiries to identify the person responsible for the assault are ongoing.
Now officers have released an image of a man they wish to trace.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "He was in the bar at the time of the assault and may have information that will assist the police investigation.
"The man, or anyone who knows him, should contact police on 101 quoting crime reference 106959N/19, email 8231@northumbria.pnn.police.uk or report online at the Northumbria Police website.
