Police have appealed for information after an elderly man was followed and brutally attacked in west London.

Detectives released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with assault outside a supermarket in Fulham on August 14 last year.

The 71-year-old man was leaving a Tesco in Fulham Road when he had a “brief verbal exchange with another man,” Met Police said.

The man then followed the victim down the road before turning and punching him in the face without warning.

He then fled the scene, leaving the 71-year-old with a broken cheekbone and eye socket.

So far there have been no arrests, police said.

Scotland Yard has now released a picture of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the attack.

Detective Constable Jack Emly, from the Met’s Central West Command Unit, said: "We urge anyone who recognises this man to contact us.

“The victim sustained serious facial injuries and is still suffering from the emotional effects of this assault to this day."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting ref 6023275/19, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
