CCTV appeal after criminal damage caused to block of flats in Sunderland

An investigation is under way after criminal damage was caused to a block of flats in Sunderland.

Shortly after 8am on May 3, it was reported that a man had gained entry to a communal block of flats overnight at Devonshire Tower, on Devonshire Street, Monkwearmouth.

The man reportedly caused damage to the communal door before climbing through a window and entering a property. Nothing was reported to have been stolen.

Northumbria Police has now released two CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A number of enquiries have been ongoing into the incident, which happened between 3.30am and 4am.

"Now police have identified a man they would like to trace as part of their enquiries. He was in the area at the time and could have information that can assist officers with the ongoing investigation.

"The man, or anyone who knows him, is asked to contact police on 101 or by using the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website quoting log 235 030520. Alternatively, you can email 3219@northumbria.pnn.police.uk."
